Baker, Fritz React to State Police Shooting in Susquehanna County

August 8, 2025

HARRISBURG – Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne/Pike/Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming) and Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) today issued the following statement concerning the shooting that occurred in Susquehanna County.

“Despite our continuing efforts to strengthen law enforcement capacity and public protection laws, violent acts are always unpredictable. But there is no justification whatsoever for any individual to attack state or local police, especially with deadly weapons, simply for doing their job. Our sympathies go out to the two troopers for the injuries inflicted upon them, and to the family of the victim. This is a reminder that we should pray for the safety of our uniformed protectors every day and make them aware of our gratitude for their service.”
