Baker, Fritz Announce Funding for Improvements to Ira Reynolds Park Boat Launch
May 8, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne/Pike/Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming) announced $257,400 was recently awarded in Susquehanna County to develop a non-motorized boat launch at Ira Reynolds Park along the Susquehanna River. The funding was approved through the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Boating Facility Grant Program.
“The funding that Ira Reynolds Park is receiving is an important outdoor recreation investment, and part of a larger effort to revitalize the area for more people and families to enjoy,” the legislators said. “By improving access to the Susquehanna River, operators of non-motorized vessels like canoes and kayaks will now be able to use this as a stopping point to enjoy additional recreational opportunities along the river. We are excited for more individuals to experience the beauty of our community.”
“We absolutely could not have been successful in obtaining the grant without the support of Rep. Fritz and Sen. Baker,” said Mary Butler, a member of the Susquehanna Borough Advisory Committee. “The grant is an enormous gift to our community and is a huge step toward making the non-motorized ramp a reality.”
The Ira Reynolds Park Boat Launch was one of 18 projects awarded funding through the 2024 grant round. The project includes building a new non-motorized boat launch, with a composting restroom, ADA accessible parking and other amenities such as picnic tables and benches.
The Boating Facility Grant Program provides grants for the planning, acquisition, development, expansion and rehabilitation of public boating facilities located on the waters of the Commonwealth. The goal of the program is to ensure Pennsylvania’s recreational boaters have the highest quality boating facilities.
