Fritz, Baker and Brown Announce More Than $360,000 in Grant Funding to Local Fire, EMS Companies in Wayne County
2/15/2024
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne), Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne/Pike/Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming) and Sen. Rosemary Brown (R-Lackawanna/Monroe/Wayne) announced today 25 fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in Wayne County were awarded $361,713.33 in grant funding.

“It’s wonderful to see these grant dollars given to our local fire and EMS companies that are on the frontline when an emergency strikes within our community,” said Fritz. “These grants are well-deserved and will help our brave first responders with their critically important and dangerous jobs.”

“This is a vital program that continues to deliver results for our local communities. We all recognize these are challenging times for units struggling to retain and attract personnel and to secure the funding to keep equipment and training up to standard,” said Baker.  “Area companies have done a good job in maintaining the capacity to respond and capably answering the calls when they come in for a wide range of emergency situations. The leaders and members of local units are to be commended for qualifying for these grants.”

“These grants are critical to assisting our emergency services, especially at the volunteer level, to function efficiently and reliably,” said Brown. “It is becoming more difficult and more expensive every year and these funds are utilized tremendously.”
