Brown, Fritz Applaud Investment Efforts for Employer-Education Collaboration

April 12, 2019

HARRISBURG – Reps. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) and Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) announced today that a $50,000 Educators in the Workforce grant was awarded to Pocono Counties Teacher in the Workplace Program - Future Ready Educators.

The grants were awarded through the Teacher in the Workplace program, which is designed to strengthen the collaboration between local educators and businesses to better prepare students with the skills for in-demand jobs. More than $2.6 million in funding was awarded to 59 programs across the Commonwealth.

“It is great to see that investments are continuing to be made not only in our schools and teachers, but in our students,” said Brown. “Their future is dependent on our schools having the means to instill in them the skills they will need in the workforce and this grant will help make that happen.”

Fritz said, “Grants like these are what helps strengthen the bonds between businesses and our local schools. I know these funds will provide these programs with what they need to accomplish their student-driven goals.”

The objective of this Future Ready Educators program is to coordinate and deploy a comprehensive region-wide Teacher in the Workplace program that is consistent with the Pocono Counties Workplace Development Board’s comprehensive plan. The Teacher in the Workforce program allows educators to interact with businesses and community partners and build relationships.
