Fritz Named Deputy Whip for 2017-18 Legislative Session
May 22, 2017
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) was chosen by House Majority Whip Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-Peach Bottom) to serve as a deputy whip for the 2017-18 legislative session.
Fritz, who is currently serving his first term as a legislator, is tasked with tracking House votes, informing his Republican colleagues on a variety of legislative issues and working with the other deputy whips to collaborate with Cutler.
Fritz is joined by several deputy whips who work together to keep the majority whip advised of concerns that members may have and other matters potentially impacting the legislative agenda and the majority caucus as a whole. Deputy whips also receive special briefings on legislative issues, providing them with a greater breadth of knowledge.
“This is a great responsibility and I feel honored that Rep. Cutler chose me for this role,” said Fritz. “I look forward to gaining an in-depth understanding of a variety of legislative issues and working with my colleagues to facilitate a collaborative environment.”
“Rep. Fritz, as a freshman member, has a unique perspective that will help him engage with the newer members of the caucus through his position as deputy whip,” Cutler said. “I look forward to working with him as we discuss topics of interest with our fellow representatives.”
